Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Tax Administrator to joinur Sheppard office. This is a hybrid role with 2 days in office and 3 days at home. The successful candidate will be required to complete tasks related to the Trustee in Bankruptcy’s responsibilities, such as filing income tax and GST returns for individuals (including self-employed).

Responsibilities
 
  • Complete tax returns for the relevant taxation years
  • Reviewing tax files to determine completeness of relevant tax information
  • Filing of documents in relation to the client’s taxes
  • Updating the CPA, to track the completion of tasks
  • Processing and intaking of CRA Notices of Assessment, including sorting and filing large volumes of mail, reviewing and reconciling tax assessments against the filed returns
  • Managing CRA returns/correspondence for business GST accounts for self-employed bankrupts as required
  • Ad hoc communication with bankrupts and CRA as required to answer questions, accommodate special requests, and troubleshoot problems with regards to incorrect tax return assessments as well as held and/or miss-directed refunds
Qualifications
 
  • Solid knowledge and experience in basic personal Canadian income tax return preparation (including self-employed taxpayers), using tax software
  • Willingness and ability to utilize excellent organizational/administrative skills to process high volumes of paperwork, correspondences and filing
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to be utilized in dealing with the CRA, other firm staff, and bankrupts
  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word for preparation of reports and correspondence
  • Working knowledge of the Insolvency Manager Software considered an asset
  • Experience with bankruptcy tax returns and Tax prep software is an asset, but not a requirement
